Responsible Procurement Program

The Responsible Procurement Program (RPP) was created by the National Wood Flooring Association (NWFA), Scientific Certification Systems, Forest Stewardship Council®, and the Rainforest Alliance, administered by the NWFA. The purpose of the responsible procurement program is to ensure that wood flooring manufacturers source their raw material from environmentally and socially responsible sources, that which may ensure forest longevity for future generations.

The program guarantees that manufacturers exercise environmental stewardship during their procurement process, exercise due care under the U.S. Lacey Act (see Responsible Forestry for definition of U.S. Lacey Act), and provide FSC® flooring options to their customers.

The U.S. Renewing Forests logo is to certify that raw materials originate from U.S. forests where hardwood growth exceeds removal at the statewide level. This assessment is based on the Forest Inventory Assessment (FIA) conducted every five years by the U.S.D.A. Forest Service.
