At the end of 2023, we started dreaming about an idea for a PID Floors video series.
Our hope was to share and film heartfelt conversations about inspiration and innovation with the people who endlessly inspire us. Without taking ourselves too seriously. From top architects to incredible designers, the possibilities are endless when we collaborate with our talented friends in the trade. This dream transformed into our new video series, BEYOND THE SURFACE.
We are thrilled to share our inaugural episode with you.
BEYOND THE SURFACE:
PID Floors x Karen Asprea Studio
We truly couldn’t think of a better person to sit down and to go BEYOND THE SURFACE with for our first episode. A native Brooklynite and long-time friend of PID Floors, the talented Karen Asprea has studios in Miami and NYC that focus on creating curated, luxury design for residential developments, commercial spaces, and private homes. Her work designs timeless interiors that resonate personally, evolve gracefully, and focus on natural materials.
With her talent, design ethos, and passion for natural and nature-based materials, Karen was the perfect designer to collaborate with us on of our one-of-kind inLove Collection.
The inLove Collection offers bespoke services that allow us to create custom flooring locally in Brooklyn, New York. The possibilities are endless. Any and every aspect of our product can be customized—from the species and grade of wood—to the construction and dimensions of the wood planks. This exciting collection and collaboration embraces both tradition and innovation, employing time-honored woodworking techniques alongside the most cutting-edge in biochemistry. Art and science meet with the use of reactive color processes: wood smoking and reaction-based stains.
We are honored and excited to begin this beautiful collaboration with Karen Asprea.
We cannot wait to share this exciting creative journey with you!
“Throughout my entire career, the first thing I do is educate my clients on the importance of the main material in their house which is the wood floor. It’s what your body connects to in the morning. The fact that these are natural stains that will age over time and become more elegant is what makes me so happy to bring it to my clients.
The basis of all my designs really starts with the wood floor and up until this point, until we started talking about this product, I wouldn’t say that I was limited, but I know how much I love to use natural and nature-based materials in my designs. And now I feel like you and the PID family have given me an extra opportunity to use wood flooring that truly is only nature-based products.”
