PID Floors was thrilled to attend the “ChaShaMa Luncheon: Honoring Port Authority,” which brought together artists, supporters, partners, and civic leaders for conversation, connection, and a shared commitment to creative space in the city and the broader New York City arts community.

Founded in 1995 by Anita Durst, Chashama helps create a more diverse, equitable, and inclusive world by partnering with property owners to transform unused real estate. These spaces are used for artists, small businesses, and for free community-centric art classes, supporting the New York creative ecosystem, NYC artists and small businesses, and the continued growth of creative spaces in NYC through innovative adaptive reuse real estate NYC initiatives.

PID was excited to join our friends, Anita Durst, Myron Johnson, Hans Galutera, and Jeffrey Lynford, at this special event and inspired to learn more about the artists, small businesses, and cultural partners who activate Chashama spaces throughout the year as well. The impact of Chashama’s work and the role community partnerships in New York play in sustaining the city’s creative ecosystem in New York work was energizing. We were thrilled to meet and chat with artists who support Chashama’s meaningful work in the New York City artistic community including Doobie Duke Sims of Real Snow Milk whose wearable art has been featured at the Guggenheim New York, Hudson Yards, JFK Terminal 8, and the American Museum of Natural History. As a company specializing in retail, residential, multifamily, and commercial interiors and wood flooring, PID Floors values community-centered design and construction. This inspiring afternoon reaffirmed our emphasis on a community-based ethos and our belief that the possibilities are endless when we partner with our talented friends in the trade.

Thank you for an incredible event, ChaShaMa!
