Sustainably managing forests is a way to reduce carbon and to produce the oxygen that we all need.
Carbon Stored
As a tree grows, it stores carbon in its trunk, branches, and roots. In fact, about half the dry weight of wood is stored in carbon.
When hardwood trees are harvested, the carbon continues to be stored in products made from it. Hardwood forests naturally regenerate and the cycle begins again.
Carbon Released
Catastrophic fires release carbon that has been stored in trees into the atmosphere. Manufacturing and automobiles also contribute carbon by burning fossil fuels.
Natural processes like volcanoes and decomposition also release carbon into the atmosphere.

Our aim is to have as many PID Floors products as possible achieve GREENGUARD certification, FloorScore® certification, Cradle to Cradle Certification™, and to publish Health Product Declarations through the HPD-Collaborative.
Our staff is comprised of highly trained and knowledgeable flooring experts who guide customers through the design process, including LEED Green Associates. We are passionate about listening to all our customers’ unique and varied needs and delight in collaborating with our clients every step of the way.

Internationally acclaimed, Hans J. Galutera, the Founder, and CEO of a Manhattan-based interior architectural design studio, seamlessly integrates artistic creativity with scientific precision, crafting spaces that embody safety, health, and aesthetic excellence.
Our family company has always been about more than just hardwood flooring—it is about crafting extraordinary design experiences and sharing our knowledge with others. As a leader in the hardwood flooring industry, we take our responsibility to inspire, to excite, and to educate the future generations of the design industry very seriously.
For us, happily merging the worlds of hardwood flooring knowledge and higher education always seemed inevitable! Three generations and 36 years later, we are thrilled to have Hans Galutera as our new Director of Education Outreach at PID Floors.
Licensed and registered in the state of New York, Galutera’s illustrious career includes being honored with a Doctorate of Design from Solent University, Southampton, UK, and obtaining degrees from the Melbourne College of Decoration in Australia and the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT SUNY) in New York.
In 2002, he co-founded BG Studio International Inc., where his multidisciplinary expertise encompasses luxury commercial and high-end residential interiors, furniture, products, exhibitions, and graphics. Beyond design, Galutera’s global impact extends to education. Previously serving as the New York Chapter President of the International Interior Design Association, he actively contributes to shaping educational environments and the licensure of interior design professionals on the Board of Education for the State of New York.
Galutera is also the Ambassador of Education for the Society of British and International Design based in London, England. His influence further expands to the Advisory Board of the International Council for Caring Communities (NGO for the United Nations). Hans personifies the harmonious fusion of art, science, and innovation, leaving an indelible mark on the world of interior design.

PID Courses: Wood Floors 101
This PID Floors Course offers general knowledge of wood floors.
Through this cumulative course, you will gain knowledge on the basics of wood flooring, wood flooring finishes, and the benefits of wood flooring.
Upon passing the quiz with an 80% or above, you will be awarded a certificate of completion plaque and also will be recognized on our website!
